چکیده

UDP glycosyltransferases (UGTs) play an indispensable role in regulating signaling pathways and intracellular homeostasis plants by catalyzing the glycosylation of metabolites. To date, molecular characteristics potential biological functions UGT gene family pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) remain elusive. In this study, a total 120 PgUGT genes were identified genome. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that these PgUGTs clustered into 15 groups: 13 conserved groups (A–J L–N) two newly discovered (P R). Structural showed most members same evolutionary branch shared similar motifs structures. Gene duplication demonstrated tandem fragment primary driving force for expansion family. Expression based on RNA-seq data indicated exhibited various expression profiles different tissues. We further analyzed patterns E L seed coat hard-seeded cultivar ‘Dabenzi’ soft-seeded ‘Tunisia’ at developmental stages. There eight with high levels both cultivars: PgUGTE10 was highly expressed inner outer coats; PgUGTE20, PgUGTE21, PgUGTL6, PgUGTL11, PgUGTL12 mainly coat; PgUGTE12 PgUGTL13 coat. Interestingly, relative PgUGTL11 higher than ‘Dabenzi’. seedlings, quantitative real-time PCR level induced brassinolide treatment, while up-regulated indole-3-acetic acid treatment. addition, expressions correlated involved hormone lignin biosynthesis pathways. These results suggested are candidate hardness development specific substrates.

Microsatellite Isolation and Characterization in Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.)

Development of microsatellite markers has been an increasing trend in crop genetic studies because oftheir applicability in breeding programs. Here we report the development of inter simple sequencerepeat (SSRs) in pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) using an enrichment method that makes use of magneticbeads. Enriched genomic libraries with AG and ATG microsatellite motifs were c...

The role of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) in colon cancer.

Colon cancer is one of the major causes of cancer-related death in the Western world. Although cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents are available to treat the disease, these agents become ineffective as the disease advances to an invasive state. An alternative but viable approach to reduce the incidence of this deadly disease is then, to increase the dietary intake of relatively non-toxic fruits a...

Flavonols and Flavones Changes in Pomegranate (Punica granatum L

Four Chinese pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) cultivars were analyzed for their individual flavonols and flavones (in fruit peel extracts) using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), with changes in flavonols and flavones as occurring during fruit development. The results revealed the presence of kaempferol, quercetin, myricetin, luteolin, and apigenin in all the four cultivars. In add...

INVITED REVIEW Biotechnological advances in pomegranate (Punica granatum L.)

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is known for its nutritional, medicinal, and ornamental importance. It is conventionally propagated by hardwood and softwood cuttings, but about 1 yr is needed before the rooted cuttings can be transplanted to the field. Propagation by seed is undesirable as populations are heterozygous and seed propagation leads to wide variations in tree and fruit characterist...

Antioxidant Activity of Iranian Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) Seed Extracts

Pomegranate, a small tree with potential human health benefits, is grown mainly in Iran, India and USA as well as in most Near and Far East countries. It has been used extensively in folk medicine for a number of therapeutic purposes. In the present study, the ferric reducing/antioxidant power assay (FRAP) was employed and the FRAP value of the seed fraction of six different cultivars of pomegr...
